Expressions of Interest


The Department for Trade and Investment (DTI) is seeking expressions of interest from South Australian food, wine and beverage exporters to participate in the 2024 Taste of South Australia China Trade Mission (13 - 15 March in Guangzhou and 16 - 18 March in Chengdu).

The mission coincides with China Food and Drinks Fair (16 - 22 March) and will be an opportunity to strengthen positioning of South Australia’s high-quality food, wine, and beverage offerings in the China market. 
 
The program will provide an opportunity to showcase your products to industry and consumers in South Australia’s largest food and beverage export market.
 
Your participation, with the support of the South Australian Government, will provide a platform to re-engage and establish new connections in this important export market.  


Proposed program of activities in Guangzhou and Chengdu, China:


  • Arrive in Guangzhou (13 March 2024)
  • Taste of South Australia Showcase (14 March 2024) South Australian products will be featured at an exclusive tasting event to key importers and buyers. 
  • Wine Masterclass (14 March 2024) South Australian wines will be showcased through a masterclass format.
  • Travel from Guangzhou to Chengdu (15 March 2024)
  • China Food and Drinks Hotel Show (CFDF, 16 - 17 March 2024) Three-day hotel showcase, SA wine forum and masterclass.
  • Buyer / Retail Visit Tour (18 March 2024) Meet interested buyers in Chengdu

Addition activities not included in the official program:

  • China Food and Drinks Fair (20 - 22 March 2024) – Exporters will have the option of making their own arrangements to attend the second half of CFDF. Please note South Australia will not have an official booth.

Eligibility Criteria


  • Primarily suited to experienced food and wine exporters currently exporting to Mainland China and/or China export ready and able to organise samples that can be displayed at the trade show. 
  • Spirits can be new to market or existing in market.
  • Have a valid ABN registered in South Australia. 
  • Ability to supply marketing material (physical and digital- preferably in Chinese) to support promoting your business at the event. 
  • Have your own staff and/or in-market representatives onsite. 


Additional wine eligibility criteria 

  • Existing wines in market only, for both the showcase and masterclass - Please ensure your wines have been recently tasted to guarantee quality
  • Price points:  AUD RRP $20+
  • Award Rating: 90+ point rating from internationally known wine writers/awards
  • Regionality: Wines must be GI Specific
  • ESG:  strong sustainability credentials preferred
  • Style: Low or no alcohol wines encouraged 


Participation costs


The Department will support South Australian food, wine and beverage companies to participate in this initiative. Limited spaces are available.

  • Meals (some meals will be included in the official program)
  • Product samples and storage costs
  • Freight and clearance costs
  • China Food and Drink Fair ticket (20 - 22 March) - additional optional expense

The Department does not accept any liability or responsibility for products lost or damaged during shipping or not clearing customs.
